We Make Peace at Mass
We confess unloving actions.
Our priest leads us in asking God’s forgiveness at the beginning of Mass.
We pray:
“I confess to almighty God,
and to you, my brothers and sisters, that I have greatly sinned
in my thoughts and in my words,
in what I have done,
and in what I have failed to do.”
We ask God to forgive us.
Our priest dares us to pray and live as Jesus taught us. We pray the Lord’s Prayer together. We ask God to forgive us the same way we forgive others. We have to be ready to forgive others when we ask God to forgive us.
We pray:
“Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.”
We give a sign of peace.
Our priest offers us a wish of peace. We give each other signs of peace. We shake hands or give a hug.
We say:
“The peace of Christ be with you.”
