ActivityIn today’s Gospel, Jesus followed his heart and took action. Our hearts can guide our actions too. If we want to do right in our hearts, we will do the right things. If we want to do wrong in our hearts, we do the wrong things. Draw a line from each heart to the action you think would follow.Faith FocusWhy was Jesus so angry? In versions of this event from Matthew, Mark, and Luke, there is an indication that the money changers were overcharging, but John doesn’t say that. John’s point seems to emphasize that Jesus had a different idea of how his Father’s house should be treated and used. As always, Jesus saw into people’s hearts, and his message had a deeper meaning than it might appear on the surface.Family ActivityReview with your family the Catholic practices of respect for God’s house.• We make the Sign of the Cross with holy water as a reminder of our Baptisms.• As we enter and leave our pews, we genuflect toward the tabernacle to honor Jesus there.• We stay quiet except to sing and pray.• When we leave, we sign ourselves again withholy water.4Family Corner© 2018 Pflaum Publishing Group, a division of Bayard, Inc. pflaum.com
