                     Third Commandment
Keep holy the Lord’s Day.
My favorite thing about Sunday is
God gave the Jewish people ten rules to keep. Some of the rules taught them how to honor God. Other rules taught them how to live in peace. These ten rules are called the Ten Commandments. Jesus taught his followers to keep the Ten Commandments too. They are listed on page 31 of your What the Church Believes and Teaches handbook.
The Third Commandment is “Keep holy the Lord’s Day.” The Lord’s Day is Sunday. We remember that Jesus rose from the dead on a Sunday.
Connecting GOSPEL and DOCTRINE
To keep Sunday holy means to
rest from work and to remember all that God does for us. The most important thing we do on Sunday is go to Mass.
How do you make Sunday a holy day?
I Go to Mass
I Go to religion class
I Share a family meal
I Talk about the Sunday Gospel I Do a fun family activity
I Visit someone
I Pray

Catholic Faith Word
Eucharist The Eucharist is the sacrament in which we receive Jesus’ Body and Blood. It helps us to become more like Jesus.
We Are Sent Out
The priest blesses us. He sends
us out into the world to share God’s love with others.

                God invites all people
to belong to his family,
the Church. He wants all people to share in the great feast of
the Eucharist. Receiving Holy Communion at Mass prepares us to sit at God’s table in Heaven.
Go to pages 20 and 22 of your Catechism handbook to learn more about Sunday and the Eucharist.
