                                  Welcome! God’s
Wedding banquets bring people together to eat, dance, and celebrate a couple’s love for each other. Hosts serve cakes covered with frosting. Friends and family gather around the new couple.
A wedding is a joyful time. Sunday’s Gospel tells a story about a king who gives a wedding banquet for his son.
Sunday’s First Reading (Isaiah 25:6–10a) describes a banquet that God gives for all the peoples of the earth. No one
is left out. Enemies who have fought
in wars come together to eat the same meal. Hungry people have plenty to eat. This feast gives us a picture of the happiness and unity God wants for the human race. Read Isaiah’s vision:
On this mountain the Lord of hosts will provide for all peoples
a feast of rich food and choice wines, juicy, rich food and pure, choice wines. On this mountain he will destroy
the veil that veils all peoples,
the web that is woven over all nations; he will destroy death forever.
The Lord God will wipe away
the tears from every face;
the reproach of his people he will remove from the whole earth;
for the Lord has spoken.
Isaiah 25:6–8

In the most blessed sacrament of the Eucharist “the body and blood, together with the soul and divinity, of our Lord Jesus Christ and, therefore, the whole Christ is truly, really, and substantially contained.”

                                                 Living the GOSPEL
                                                                                                                                                                                            Imagine that God has put you in charge of planning a party for the whole human race. God wants everyone to come.
1 Choose three people you want to invite to the banquet. Consider people who are
G in the news
G in your daily life
G from other countries
2 Draw each person’s picture or paste a photo of him or her on each of the heads on page 7. Write a name or description on the place cards.
3 Decide on food to serve that the three people will enjoy sharing. Draw the meal on the table.
4 Plan a way the people at the banquet can share their stories. What is a question that might get the conversation going?

5 Find a partner and use these questions to talk about your banquets.
G Why did you invite each person?
G Which guests will enjoy each other the
most?
G What do they have in common?
G What does your guest list tell about you?
G How will you know your party was a success?
6 Gather in a large group. Take turns sharing about one guest and how he or she enjoyed the banquet.
