We Have Many Ways to Make Peace
Objective (10 minutes)
• The children will identify words and gestures of forgiveness in daily life.
Have the children move to the work area. Remind them that we can show forgiveness in both words
and actions. Recall that Jesus said the words, “Peace be with you,” to his friends and then breathed the Holy Spirit on them. Read aloud the sentences at the top of page 4, which describe ways the Holy Spirit works in us to make peace with others.
Have the children go to page 4 and describe what is happening in each illustration.
• A girl has written on the sidewalk that another girl is stupid.
• Three kids playing jump rope have left out a fourth child.
• A child has left his brother’s baseball glove out in the rain.
• A boy lets a girl’s hamster out of its box.
Ask the children to give ideas about how the children in each illustration can make peace—what each can
do to show they are sorry, or show forgiveness, and what each can say.
Have the children nd the stickers for this page and work in pairs to decide which sticker goes where.
Review together how the words in the stickers help make peace.
We Have Many Ways to Make Peace
Jesus calls all his followers to become forgiving people who make peace. Jesus gives us the Holy Spirit to help us see how to make peace.
We have many ways to show forgiveness and to make peace with one another. We have words and actions. We can say
“Let’s be friends” or “I’m sorry.”

PRAYER RITUAL 5
We Share Peace
Objective (10 minutes)
• The children will make a peace medal and celebrate the
“We Share Peace” Prayer Ritual.
This celebration includes ways Jesus expressed peace and ways the children can express peace. Have each child prepare a peace medal. Follow the direction on Prayer Ritual 5. Prepare an area where each child can display his or her medal. This prayer experience provides the children a concrete way to understand absolution.
Tell the children to celebrate this Prayer Ritual at home with their families. They may wish to prepare a peace medal for each family member.
Find a sticker with words this child can say to make peace.
