We Make Peace at Mass
Objective (10 minutes)
• The children will recognize ways we ask forgiveness
at Mass.
Gather in the open space again
with lesson booklets closed. Assign partners and ask each pair to think of ways we make peace during Mass. Give them one minute for
this task, then ask for volunteers to pantomime a way they have thought of for the rest of the children to guess. The children will probably remember that members of their church community give each other
a sign of peace at Mass. They may also think of the words that ask forgiveness in the Our Father.
Have the children open to page 3 and identify the actions in each photo. The photos show gestures that suggest what the people are saying and doing. Standing and kneeling are gestures of prayer at Mass. Handshakes are signs of peace and making up.
Ask for volunteers to read each of the three sections of text. Make sure the children recognize which photo goes with each prayer.
