● Tech: Explain to the students that people around the world have different ways of celebrating events. Have the students research celebratory customs from a few different cultures. Then allow the students to make a collage of pictures and captions showcasing celebrations around the world. (ISTE2016.3a)
         Catholic Identity
Project of the Week
Celebrations are a great way to build community and to say thank you! Guide the children in organizing and throwing a party to say thank you to the workers in the parish or school. Help them divide tasks so that everyone is involved. Invite parents to assist with the party as well.
Extending the Lesson
Saints and Feast Days to Celebrate
● October 16: Saint Marguerite d’Youville (CAN) – Before turning thirty, Marguerite had lost her father, husband, and four of her six children. Her sufferings led to a religious conversion and her cofounding a group dedicated to helping the poor. This group became the Grey Nuns.
● October 16: Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque– Visions of Jesus led Margaret Mary to promote devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Other sisters in her order were suspicious of her visions, but a Jesuit priest declared her visions authentic. She is a patron saint of polio sufferers, orphans, and those devoted to the Sacred Heart.
